Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to provide a national update on the COVID-19 crisis on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.

On Friday, the prime minister said a federal wage subsidy for employees in businesses hit hard by COVID-19 will last at least until the end of August.

The subsidy was set to expire in the first week of June, only a few weeks after the first payments rolled out.

On Friday, Finance Minister Bill Morneau provided more details of a broadening of the program following Trudeau’s briefing, including what Trudeau says will be expanded eligibility.
