Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will hold a COVID-19 briefing in Ottawa on Monday to discuss the ongoing government response to the pandemic.

Federal ministers and health officials will hold a briefing shortly after Trudeau at approx. 12pm ET.

Trudeau said on Saturday that Canada will not be paying for N95 masks imported from China which have been deemed unfit for use by the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Trudeau’s comments came a day after the federal government suspended shipments of N95 masks from a Montreal-based supplier after approximately eight million masks made in China failed to meet specifications.

As of May 10, there were 68,738 confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 in Canada, including 4,870 deaths.
