Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will hold a COVID-19 briefing in Ottawa on Friday and is expected to discuss the government’s response to jobs impacted by the pandemic.

Federal ministers and health officials will hold a news conference to provide an update on the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) following the prime minister’s briefing.

Canada shed nearly two million jobs in April, as the novel coronavirus pandemic tore through the Canadian economy.

That, on top of an employment drop of over one million in March, brings the total job losses since the start of the COVID-19 shutdown to over three million, Statistics Canada said on Friday.
