Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to hold a COVID-19 briefing in Ottawa on Monday and will discuss the ongoing government response to the pandemic.
MPs are due to resume debate over the future of Parliament when a small group returns to the House of Commons on Monday to argue about the path forward.
The Liberals seek to advance their proposal that the full resumption of Parliament be waived in favour of expanding the special COVID-19 committee that has been acting as a sort of stand-in for the Commons.
It’s expected the Conservatives will argue against the idea and push for the resumption of “normal” House of Commons sittings, albeit with only 50 MPs in the chamber at any time.
Federal ministers and health officials will hold a briefing after Trudeau’s address.
